Course 3 is a 13-week clinical practicum course for professionals who have not had supervised, clinical experience in structured literacy working one-on-one with students. The International Dyslexia Association standards require that therapists have, in addition to coursework, a supervised clinical practicum in which they gain experience applying the knowledge and skills learned in coursework to clinical intervention. Educational professionals whose background is classroom teaching, for example, will need a practicum to qualify as a Lexercise therapist.

Under the supervision of a Lexercise clinician and using the Lexercise teletherapy platform, the trainee will provide structured literacy therapy to 3 clients concurrently for 12 weeks (Lexercise will provide the clients).

Prior to the 12 weeks of client sessions, 3-5 weeks are devoted to the prerequisite teletherapy technology training that is provided as part of the Course 3 course enrollment.  Once the teletherapy technology training has been completed, the trainee will conduct tech checks and review client records (1 additional week) and the following 12 weeks are spent providing structured literacy teletherapy services. This course involves ~ 100 hours of supervised clinical experience (a minimum of 11.5 hours per week for approximately 100 supervised hours over the 13-weeks of client service in the course).

Trainees will develop skills with teletherapy tools and with research-backed methodologies for structured literacy therapy.

The cost of this course is $2,990.

This course has been granted AccreditedPLUS status by the International Dyslexia Association as it prepares trainees for the Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction (KPEERI) exam. Course trainees are expected to take the KPEERI exam and are eligible for the Structured Literacy™ Dyslexia Specialist (SLDS) designation upon passing it. The cost of the KPEERI exam is $165 and there is an additional Certification Administration Fee of $150.00 for those wishing to have the SLDS designation. More information can be found in the CERI certification guidelines at this link
